New Moon in Capricorn: Taken to Task
The moon will be new this Saturday, January 5th, at 7:28 pm CST. This will also be a partial solar eclipse, meaning the new moon will pass between the earth and sun, partially blocking the sun’s light. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to see the eclipse from this part of the world.
New moons are about new beginnings and occur when the sun and moon are conjunct, meaning they are right next to one another in the same sign and at the same degree. This gives us a heavy emphasis in the sign of Capricorn this month, with the new moon, Mercury, Saturn, and Pluto all in the sign of the goat.
Capricorn is a serious earth sign that is associated with words like responsibility and work and wants to see actual results. So right now, in the very first week of January, we’re feeling pushed to take action on those New Year resolutions we made. As astrologer Amy Herring says in her book, Astrology of the Moon, “With Capricorn, we are learning to become our own masters by harnessing our intent and turning it into focus.” Last month’s Sagittarian energy was about thoughts and potential, while this month’s goal is to act on those thoughts and materialize that potential.
Capricorn is the natural ruler of astrology’s 10th House—the house of career and recognition. If you’ve been thinking about getting a new job, changing careers, or starting your own business, now is the time to put some action behind those thoughts. Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn and is known in astrological circles as the Cosmic Taskmaster. Saturn loathes procrastination and wasting time, and he will unleash his infamous guilt trip when you know what you must do but don’t do it. Following through on your intentions is your only way out of this.
Numerology for 2019: Keeping What Counts
In numerology, 2019 will be a three cycle (2+0+1+9=12, 1+2=3). What do I truly want? is the central question this year because a three year is about investing in your long-term happiness. There could be opportunities presented to you this year that look great on the outside, but upon closer examination you realize this opportunity isn’t going to bring you any closer to your long-term goal. This year, you’re no longer willing to waste your time on situations that only look good from the outside; they have to really speak to you on a deeper soul level. Others may question you and your choices, but it’s during a three cycle that we learn about self-acceptance. This is the year we realize we really don’t need the approval of others.
The number 3 is also associated with socializing, networking, and parties. So, this is the year to pay attention to the people you meet, as they can be of great help in getting you where you want to go and vice-versa. You may find yourself lending a hand to help others reach their goals.
The number 3 is also linked to happiness, joy, and optimism, so this is the year that you’ll distance yourself from the drama queens and kings in your life, the people that drain you with their negativity. You will begin to see that guilt is what kept you in some of these toxic relationships, and the three year is about releasing that guilt and making a commitment to your personal happiness.
