Full Moon in Gemini

Full Moon in Gemini

The moon is on her way to being full this Saturday December 18 in the airy sign of Gemini at 10:36 pm CST.  Full moons occur every month when the sun and moon are in opposite signs at the exact same degree; for this particular lunation the sun is at 27 degrees Sagittarius while the moon is in the opposite sign Gemini at 27 degrees.  Full moons bring situations to a head and there tends to be an air of completion and release about them.  Full moons cast a light on what is hidden or kept secret so in order to bring something to completion we may need to accept and integrate a part of ourselves that we’ve cast aside.

Zodiac Facts:  Gemini & Sagittarius

Every zodiac song belongs to one of the four elements; fire, earth, air or water.  Being an air sign means thinking, analysis and communication are of utmost importance to Gemini.  While the water signs feel everything; the air signs can appear detached and cold in the emotions department.  It’s not that Gemini doesn’t feel, it’s just not their primary way of relating to the world.  Sagittarius belongs to the fire element meaning passion, enthusiasm, courage and theatrics take center stage.  Fire signs, like air signs, can be quite charming and animated when expressing themselves. Sagittarius can have a restless energy about them along with a passion and flair for the dramatic.

Each astrological sign belongs to a modality.  The modality of a sign describes the nature and attitude of that sign and there are three modalities; cardinal, fixed or mutable.  Gemini and Sagittarius belong to the mutable modality meaning they’re signs that can be adaptable and flexible.  While the fixed signs can become quite rigid, The Twins and The Centaur can adapt to change and new situations.  The dark side of the mutable quality is a lack of staying power because they can get bored so quickly.

Each zodiac sign is ruled by a planet; for Gemini that planet is Mercury while Sagittarius’ ruling planet is Jupiter.  In Roman mythology, Mercury was known as the messenger of the gods.  Mercury rules communication, understanding and intelligence.  Books, newspapers and modern day social media all fall under the rulership of Mercury.  Jupiter, Sagittarius’ ruling planet, was known as the king of the gods in Roman mythology and Zeus in Greek mythology.  Jupiter rules abundance, prosperity, higher education, foreign travel and philosophy.  A common thread between the two signs is their love of gathering information and learning.  This love of learning can make these two mutable signs great conversationalists; you definitely want Gemini and Sagittarius at a party or social gathering.

There are twelve astrological houses and each sign is associated with one of these houses.  Gemini is linked to the 3rd House, the angle in your chart that deals with communication, writing, learning, teaching, transportation, siblings and neighbors.  Sagittarius is associated with the astrological 9th House, the sector of your chart that rules, foreign travel, knowledge, higher education and mental expansion.  Again, we see a love of learning as a common link between these two signs.

Full Moon in Gemini

Since Gemini and Sagittarius deal with the mind and our mental capabilities and the full moon brings situations to a head we may have reached a point where our thoughts are too much for us; we’re overthinking or over analyzing something and we need a reality check.  You may be in a classic battle where you are torn between your head and your heart.  Maybe it’s time for a shift in your perception; you may need to get an outside perspective from a friend (Gemini), a family member (moon) or a therapist (Gemini).   The tarot card associated with the Gemini portion of this full moon is the 10 of Swords, the card of mental anguish and ruin.  Instead of trying to figure out everything on your own, ask for help.  If you work with crystals fluorite is a perfect stone for situations like this, one of its healing properties is mental clarity and focus.  Remind yourself that if one door is closing, another door will be opening.

Taking into consideration the mutable energy of the two signs involved, you may need some stimulation in your life, some change might do you good.  Maybe things have become static and stale and it’s time for something new and different.  Use the restless energy of Gemini and Sagittarius to try something new; Carnelian, a stone of courage and action, could aid you in making these changes.

If you’ve become interested in a particular subject this full moon would be the perfect time to take that leap of faith and sign up for that class or course you’ve been mulling over; Gemini thrives on learning and Sagittarius is all about mental expansion.

Are you holding yourself back?  The full moon in Gemini could be whispering to you to get out of your own way; stop creating struggle by putting all these limits on yourself or maybe you feel someone else is holding you back from your dreams.  Either way, there is probably some anger or resentment stirring around deep inside and it’s time to do something about it.  If you’re holding on to anger you may want to work with amethyst and rose quartz; both stones have a tranquil and soothing energy.

Venus Retrograde

Venus, the planet of love, beauty and relationships will be going retrograde starting December 19 and will go direct on January 29, 2022.  During this six week Venus retrograde its best to postpone cosmetic surgery or purchasing luxury items.  Also, it’s not the best time to start a relationship.  If you’re in a relationship things could get bumpy here and there but try not to freak out, remind yourself that this too shall pass.
