Full Moon in Libra

Full Moon in Libra

The moon will be full Tuesday April 7 in the airy sign of Libra at 9:35 pm CST.  Full moons occur when the sun and moon are in opposite signs at the exact same degree; this opposition will typically create a sense of tension in our environment.

Full moons represent a time of completion, climax, fulfillment and can illuminate what has been hidden.  In this particular case, the sun will be in the fiery sign Aries while the moon will be in the opposite, airy sign of Libra.

This will also be a supermoon; a supermoon is a cosmic phenomenon where a new moon or full moon occurs at the time when the moon is closest to the earth, giving the moon an unusually large presence.

In astrology, Aries is the natural ruler of the 1stHouse, the part of our chart that deals with self-identity and the self while Libra is the natural ruler of the 7thHouse, the part of our chart that rules others, marriage and relationships.  During a Libra full moon there can be a “me” vs. “we” feeling in the air.  In light of recent developments with the Covid-19 virus many of us, for better or worse, may be spending more time with those who see and experience life from a very different perspective.

Aries energy is more self-focused energy that doesn’t necessarily need others to understand itself while Libra energy is just the opposite. As astrologer Bil Tiereny says in his book, All Around the Zodiac, Libra understands that two heads are better than one.  Also, Aries ruled by the planet Mars has a more confrontational, warrior like energy to it while Libra, ruled by lovely Venus has a softer, more cooperative spirit.

The spiritual perspective is a balance game, each needs the other.  Aries teaches us about courage and the need to be self-focused at times while Libra teaches us about the value of negotiation, sharing and cooperation. During the upcoming full moon we can view opposite energies as working together; complementing one another instead of competing against one another.

This is such an important full moon for us right now as we pull together and look for the similarities instead of the differences.

Neptune, Moon, Mercury and Pisces

During the full moon in Aries, Neptune in Pisces will make an aspect to the moon in Libra while Mercury is transiting the sign of Pisces.  The Neptune-Moon connection along with the Mercury in Pisces taps into the more sensitive and psychic aspects of ourselves.  Our dreams could be very vivid and our intuitive hits very strong.  A word of caution, the dark side of Neptune, the moon and with Pisces,  we have to guard against a victim mentality.  Since the moon rules food slipping into a poor-me state of mind could have us reaching for those extra cookies or that pint of ice cream to nurture (moon) ourselves.

Uranus square Mars

On the day of the Libra full moon, Uranus and Mars will be making a difficult aspect called a square.  These are two planets that can be very volatile.  We can be accident prone during a Uranus-Mars aspect because the energy is very high that day and we may be moving too fast and not paying attention to what we’re doing.  When these two planets come together there can be a restless energy in the air and tempers can flair, so this may be a great day to go for a walk and get all that excess energy out in a more constructive way.  For the more artistically inclined this can be a highly creative time.
