The moon is on her way to being full this Friday March 18 at 2:18 am CST in the earthy sign of Virgo.
Full moons occur every month when the sun and moon are in opposite signs at the exact same degree; for this particular full moon the sun is at 27 degrees Pisces while the moon is in the opposite sign of Virgo at 27 degrees. Full moons create a sense of tension and we can feel like we’re being pulled in two different directions. Our goal during a full moon is to try and integrate this opposition and find some balance. Full moons can bring a process or situation to completion and cast light on what is hidden in our lives like secrets.
Zodiac Facts: Full Moon in Virgo
During a full moon there are two signs involved, the current sun sign and the moon sign. For this lunation we are dealing with Pisces (sun sign) and Virgo (moon sign).
The Full Moon and Tarot
Every astrological sign belongs to one of the four elements; Pisces belongs to the water element while Virgo belongs to the earth element. To get an idea about what this full moon might mean for us we can turn to the tarot for clues. The 27th degree of Pisces is linked to the 10 of Cups. This is one of the most fortunate cards in the deck because it speaks of emotional contentment and satisfaction that springs from deep within our own souls. During the lockdown many of us were given the opportunity to stop and finally take a look at ourselves at a much deeper level than we are accustomed to. We were being challenged to grow on an emotional level. We’ve had a rough go of it these last two years and now it’s time to find our happiness again and celebrate.
Numerologically, the number 10 is symbolic of the completion of one cycle and the beginning of a new one. The 27th degree of Virgo is represented by the 10 of Pentacles in the tarot; the card of money, money, money. During this full moon open your arms and invite prosperity, wealth, abundance and riches into your life. Great abundance and wealth stones to carry with you or put on your altar during this full moon would be aventurine, jade or citrine or all three if you want. Stop doing without and allow something good into your life.
Every zodiac sign belongs to one of the three modalities; cardinal, fixed or mutable. The modality of a sign will give you clues to the nature and attitude of that sign. Pisces and Virgo are both mutable signs meaning these two can be adaptable and flexible. Mutable signs don’t get locked into a position. So if you’re stuck or you feel you’ve hit a wall the mutable energy of this full moon can offer a solution that you didn’t see before or didn’t consider. Instead of losing hope, look at your situation from a different perspective. Get out of your ruts and routines and try something different.
Ruling Planets: Neptune & Mercurcy
Each astrological sign has a ruling planet and for Pisces that planetary ruler is Neptune, the Roman god of the sea. As I’ve mentioned before Neptune is the planet that rules illusions, deception, psychic abilities, escape and mysticism. If we get entangled in Neptune’s web we can obsess about the past and worry about the future. During this full moon practice being in the present moment; remind yourself that the future hasn’t happened so it can always be changed.
Virgo is ruled by Mercury, the Roman messenger of the gods. Mercury rules communication, understanding and intelligence. Books, magazines, newspapers and modern day social media all fall under the rulership of Mercury.
When we combine Virgo’s planet Mercury with Pisces’ ruler Neptune we get psychic power. We think (Mercury) like a psychic or medium (Pisces). During this full moon give yourself a tarot or oracle card reading and write down what you think the Universe is trying to tell you. Don’t worry about getting it wrong just jot down what comes to you and in the coming weeks pay attention to how things work out. Doing this allows you to see how your psychic vibe works. Working with crystals like amethyst, iolite and clear quartz can assist us in boosting our intuition and psychic vibe.
In the Houses
The last thing we can look at are the two astrological houses involved in this full moon; the 12th House ruled by Pisces and the 6th House ruled by Virgo. The 12th House is literally the last house on the astrological block before you begin again with the 1st House, so naturally the 12th House involves endings and closure. What closure do you need in your life? What is ending in your life? Who or what do you need to say good-bye to?Virgo’s 6th House is related to our everyday work environment, daily routines, service work and health. This astrological house and the sign of Virgo relates to the new age thought that our mind, emotions and physical body are closely connected to one another. This philosophy posits that the quality of our thoughts directly affects the health of our body. What thoughts are going through your head right now? Do you want those thoughts to create your reality?
