New Moon in Taurus: Money Matters
The Moon will be new in the sign of Taurus on Saturday, May 4, at 5:46 pm CST. New moons speak to us about new beginnings; they’re a cosmic reset button. If you’ve wandered off the path, made mistakes, or taken wrong turns—the new moon resets and reroutes you like a GPS, giving you an opportunity to get back on track.
Taurus is an earth sign. In broader terms, that means it relates to the physical, material world. Taurus energy loathes chaos, so if you’ve been racing around and not taking care of yourself because of a hectic schedule, a new moon in Taurus wants to ground you. Being ruled by the sensuous Venus, you can begin by doing something that feels good to your physical body like going to a spa, getting a massage, or even buying an article of clothing that feels good to the touch.
Taurus is also linked to the throat chakra—the energy center that relates to your ability to communicate what you desire, need, or feel. If you’ve been having trouble speaking up, carrying or meditating with a blue stone like celestite, angelite, or blue lace agate can help you reconnect with this chakra. Singing in the shower can also help. And it doesn’t matter whether you think you can sing or not, all you’re doing is exercising your throat chakra.
Taurus is the natural ruler of the second house of money, possessions, and security. Which means there are two ways this new moon can manifest for you. The first is that if you’ve been overspending or not keeping track of your finances, now is the time to make a course correction. Another way this could manifest would be giving into your fear around security and money. You might feel stuck in a situation, but fear there won’t be enough for you to make a much needed change, and avoid taking a risk that would actually be good for you. Louise Hays’ book, You Can Heal Your Life, has a great chapter on fear and prosperity, along with any of Abraham-Hicks’ material, like Ask and It Is Given.
The tarot card associated with this new moon is the Six of Pentacles. The number six is linked to harmony, balance, and equality, while the suit of pentacles is linked to money and the material, physical world. In the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, the image on the Six of Pentacles is a person giving money to people in need. If you draw this card in a tarot reading, it can suggest that you are about to receive a pay raise or maybe a promotion, or if you’re in need, there could be help on the way.
If you are a person who is used to giving, the Six of Pentacles is a reminder that we all need a helping hand now and again and we don’t have to walk the path alone. If you’re scared and feeling insecure about a situation, the new moon may be a time to ask for help. Citrine would be a great stone to work with over the next couple of days.
Pluto retrograde in Capricorn: Don’t Hold Back
Pluto begins retrograde motion Wednesday, April 24, and will remain there until October 2. Pluto is the Lord of the Underworld and is linked to transformation, death, intimacy, and deep psychological complexes. Pluto sees past our false self and right into the core of our soul.
Capricorn is a sign associated with ambition, career, and recognition. If you’re in denial, resisting change, and not living up to your potential, Pluto will begin stripping away the things that are holding you back. If you aren’t at the right job or on the right career path, Pluto in Capricorn will set up circumstances and confrontations to change that. Granted, this is not a fun process, and surrendering is easier said than done. But Pluto is after soul growth, not superficial surface change. Pluto wants us to feel fully alive, and the way we go about that is by being fully present and engaged with life.
