New Moon in Cancer

New Moon in Cancer

The moon will be new in Cancer this Friday, June 23rd, at 9:30 p.m. in our central time zone.

Friday’s new moon joins the sun, Mercury, and Mars in the sign of Cancer. In astrology the Moon and the sign of Cancer are associated with our feelings, so this weekend our emotional lives will take center stage.

We are likely to become hyperaware of our emotions, moods, and what’s going on inside us. That nagging feeling you have in the pit of your stomach may be trying to tell you something. If you keep a journal, this weekend would be the perfect time to write down what you’re feeling without censoring yourself. If you don’t keep a journal, consider starting one on this new moon.

After last month’s hectic Gemini energy, we can find ourselves craving some time to just be, to slow down. Cancer, being a protective and tender sign, will have some of us needing this time apart as a break from the harsher aspects of the outside world.

Home is another key word associated with the sign of the Crab. If you’ve been procrastinating or neglecting to take care of things around the house, now is the time to do so. If not, try going on a shopping spree to spruce up your personal space.

Chiron, the Wounded Healer, will be making difficult aspects to the Sun and Moon this Friday, so some of us may be feeling misunderstood and wounded. Is there an old resentment you need to let go of? By getting honest with ourselves and connecting to our more vulnerable side we can heal wounds from the past.

Mercury, the planet of communication and the mind, is also in Cancer. Talking about our feelings can be very important with a Cancer Mercury. Keep in mind that Cancer is a sensitive sign, so be careful about sharing your feelings with a more logical person who may see you as melodramatic or just crazy. Logic certainly has it’s place, but the Cancer Moon isn’t it.
