The moon is on her way to being full in the sign of Gemini on Friday May 22, 2020 at 12:39 pm CST. During a new moon the sun and moon are in the exact same sign at the exact same degree and astrologers see this as the perfect time for new beginnings and setting new intentions; basically it’s a monthly reset. The day before the new moon is the dark moon which is a good day for quiet and letting go. A form of meditation during a dark moon would be spending time to yourself clearing out a closet or drawer; this is a ritual of sorts that lets the Universe know we are ready for new beginnings. Gemini is an air sign and tends to be curious, light and playful which can bring a nice change of pace from the heaviness we’ve been experiencing the last two months. Gemini is also a sign associated with the mind, communication and learning. This new moon would be a great time for learning. If you’ve been thinking about taking a class, increasing your knowledge on a subject or maybe just reading more, a new moon in Gemini is a great time to start. Staying with the learning theme you may have discovered you have teaching abilities and decide you would like to teach a class or this may be a time you look for a teacher. This Gemini energy is doubled with Mercury, the ruler of Gemini and Venus the relationship planet will also be in the sign of the Twins.
Venus & Other Retrogrades
Now Venus is retrograde until June 25, if you are in a long-term relationship you may hit a snag, maybe you aren’t seeing eye to eye on things or you seem to be arguing about the smallest things; remember this is typically a passing phase and once Venus goes direct the problems will iron themselves out so to speak. Retrogrades also put us in an introspective mood so you could be re-evaluating your relationship wondering if it’s worth it especially if there’s been trouble brewing for quite some time and the relationship seems to leave you drained most days. I’ve seen couples decide it just isn’t working during a Venus retrograde.
Speaking of retrogrades; not only is Venus retro right now but so are Pluto, Saturn, Jupiter and Ceres. Like I mentioned earlier, during retrograde periods we tend to be in a thinking, introspective analyzing phase. If you don’t feel it’s right to take action right now on certain situations in your life and you feel you need more time, it’s best to wait for a bit before making a big decision like buying a house. In fact, sometimes it can seem like the Universe is working against you and what you want. Try not to get discouraged or down on yourself. Sometimes the Universe is rearranging situations for the best possible outcome for everyone involved but we just can’t see that yet. There’s a method to the madness is a perfect phrase during retrograde periods. We may have to practice letting go knowing the Universe has a better plan than any plan we’ve cooked up on our own.
Every new or full moon has a tarot card associated with it. For this particular moon it’s the Eight of Swords. In the Rider-Waite-Smith deck we see a blindfolded woman surrounding by eight swords. The
swords surrounding the woman represent all our worried thoughts, we think there is no way out but that’s because the solution hasn’t been revealed yet so hang tight, a solution is coming. Deep breathing is our friend right now.
