New Moon Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius

New Moon Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius

The moon will be new this Saturday in the fiery sign of Sagittarius at 1:43 am CST.  New moons occur every month when the sun and moon are conjunct meaning they’re in the same sign at the exact same degree.  For this particular lunation the sun and moon will both be at 12 degrees Sagittarius.  New moons are the perfect time for making wishes and setting new intentions; the day before the new moon is known as the dark moon.  Dark moons are a time to get quiet, meditate, get rid of things you don’t use or need anymore and do tarot or oracle card readings.

This new moon will also be a solar eclipse.  Solar eclipses can only occur on a new moon.  During a solar eclipse the moon is between the Earth and the sun and partially or totally blocks out the light of the sun. A solar eclipse can be thought of as a more dramatic new moon and they can bring great change to our lives.

Zodiac Facts:  Sagittarius

Every zodiac sign belongs to one of the four elements (fire, earth, air or water) and Sagittarius belongs to the fire element meaning passion, enthusiasm and courage take center stage.  There is a restlessness to the fire signs along with a passion and flair for the dramatic and theatrical.  Fire signs can exude a certain charm and be quite animated when expressing themselves.  Sagittarius can be a thrill-seeker like Aries and can become addicted to drama and excitement.

Each sign belongs to a modality and there are three modalities; cardinal, fixed or mutable.  The modality of a sign tells you about the attitude and nature of a sign and Sagittarius belongs to the mutable modality meaning the Centaur is adaptable and flexible.  The shadow side of the mutable modality is becoming scattered and all over the place.  Mutable signs can begin 100 things and finish none of them.

Every sign is ruled by a planet and that planetary ruler for Sagittarius is Jupiter.  In Roman mythology Jupiter was the king of the gods, in Greek mythology he was known as Zeus.  In astrology Jupiter is the planet of abundance, prosperity, blessings, good luck, good fortune and travel.  In some astrological circles Jupiter is called the “Cosmic Santa Claus” because of the planet’s link to gifts and good luck.  Wherever Jupiter is transiting in your chart is the part of your life where you’ll see the most blessings and good luck.  Jupiter has been in the sign of Aquarius and will move into the watery sign of Pisces on December 28 2021 until May 11 2022.  During this time meditation, creativity and engaging our psychic vibe will bless us.  Jupiter is related to travel so if you travel while Jupiter is in Pisces there’s a good chance your trip will have a spiritual component to it like traveling to a retreat or having a spiritual awakening.

Each zodiac sign is linked to one of the twelve astrological houses and Sagittarius is associated with the 9th House; the part of our chart that rules foreign travel, higher education, knowledge, philosophy and mental expansion.  When you have planets moving through this part of your chart these themes will be highlighted.

New Moon Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius

The fiery and optimistic energy of this new moon in Sagittarius has the potential to bring more light into your life.  Something, I think, we could all use right about now after all the global drama the past year.  This is about making a conscious decision to bring in light and healing energy; we cast a light on those parts of ourselves that we’ve tried to hide, deny or sweep under the rug.  By getting honest with ourselves by casting a light on our shadow side we finally get clarity on the aspects of ourselves that’s been holding us back; this clarity gives us some much needed direction and helps us set our new intentions for the future.  As mentioned earlier solar eclipses carry an intense and dramatic energy so our intentions at this time have a lot of power behind them.  However, the thought of change can be very scary; we may be fearful that we can’t handle these changes.   In astrology risk-taking is a phrase associated with Sagittarius so it’s like this new moon solar eclipse is the Universe’s way of giving us the go-ahead, the green light.  Our philosophy (9th House) about life begins to change; the clarity we get now gives our lives meaning.  We begin to put the pieces of the puzzle together, we see our lives from a different light; we now see why we had to go through some of the things we’ve gone through.

In the tarot deck the 9 of Wands is the card associated with this new moon.  In the Thoth Tarot by Aleister Crowley, the symbol for the sun, the moon and Sagittarius are depicted on the 9 of Wands meaning the conscious (sun) and the unconscious (moon) are blending giving a sense of clarity about our life.  Regarding our career we begin to reach a new and promising level while in the relationship department we may meet someone new because we’re now much more comfortable in our own skin and that positive feeling we have for ourselves radiates out attracting new people that can broaden our horizons.
