The moon will be full this Saturday April 12 in the airy sign of Libra at 7:22 pm CST. Full moons occur every month when the sun and moon are in opposite signs at the exact same degree; for this lunation the sun will be at 23 degrees of Aries and the moon will be in the opposite sign of Libra at 23 degrees. In astrology the moon is linked to emotions, moods, instincts and the unconscious so when the moon is full our emotions can also feel full, amplified and at times overwhelming. Since the moon is associated with the unconscious, a full moon can bring emotions and moods to the conscious surface that previously locked away in our unconscious. We can experience spiritual and emotional revelations during this time of the month. A full moon can also help us release what is no longer needed in our lives.

Libra belongs to the air element in astrology which means this is a sign that places emphasis on thinking, analyzing, communicating and connecting with others. While Libra’s opposite sign Aries (current sun sign) focuses on me Libra focuses on we. At it’s most basic level the full moon in Libra can place our relationships at center stage. While some of us may meet a new person others of us may be breaking up with someone. Since the full moon magnifies and amplifies things in our lives, the darkside of the Libra full moon could have us focusing on others’ character flaws.

On the lightside, a full moon in Libra can just as easily help us focus on what we love about those closest to us. Diplomacy and balance are keywords associated with Libra so if we’ve had a confrontation or conflict with someone close to us, a Libra full moon could help us approach this situation in a diplomatic way. The relationship theme is further highlighted during this full moon because, Venus the ruler of Libra, will be conjunct Saturn. Commitment is a keyword linked with Saturn so when Venus and Saturn make an aspect some of us may decide to take a relationship to the next level through making a commitment like marriage.

On the flip side, a relationship could just as easily be re-evaluated at this time and in some instances this could mean we make the decision to terminate a relationship. As mentioned earlier, Libra belongs to the air element and the air element likes to connect with others. If we’ve been in hermit-mode a full moon in Libra can motivate us to get out and socialize, meet new people.

Relationships aren’t the only thing going on with Libra; beauty and the recognition of beauty, is also associated with Libra and it’s ruling planet Venus. During a full moon in Libra we may look around our environment and feel we need to bring some beauty to our surroundings.

Venus, the planetary ruler of Libra will go direct on the day of the full moon. Venus went retrograde on March 3 causing upheaval for some of us in the relationship department. With Mercury retrograde ending on April 7 and Venus retrograde ending on April 12 our communication and relationship problems can begin to smooth out.
