The moon will be new this Saturday March 29 in the fiery sign of Aries at 5:58am CST. This new moon will not only be a partial solar eclipse but it will also be a supermoon. There’s a lot going on during this new moon so let’s break it down piece by piece. New moons occur every month when the sun and moon are in the exact same sign at the exact same degree; for this new moon the sun and moon will be 9 degrees Aries. New moons are symbolic of new beginnings and the perfect time each month to make new wishes and set new intentions.

The day before the new moon is known as the dark moon and this is a good time to do any last bits of clearing out and letting go you may need to do to make space for new beginnings. It can be as simple as clearing out a drawer or a closet. During a dark moon our psychic vibe is on high making this a good time to do some meditating or journaling to see what messages our soul is trying to communicate to us. You could even do an oracle or tarot card reading recording your reading in your journal.

As mentioned earlier this new moon is also a solar eclipse, a partial solar eclipse to be exact. Solar eclipses only occur on new moons just like lunar eclipses only occur on full moons. During a solar eclipse the moon passes in front of and partially or totally blocks the light of the sun. It looks like only the northeastern part of the United States will be able to view this partial eclipse. Lastly, this is also a supermoon. A supermoon occurs on a full or new moon when the moon is at it’s closest point to Earth in it’s orbit giving the moon a larger than usual appearance.

Aries energy is strong during this new moon. Not only are the sun and moon in Aries but so are Mercury and Chiron. Aries belongs to the fire element meaning the energy of this new moon can be dramatic and passionate. Boldness and courage are also keywords linked to the fire element so we could be called to act courageously during this lunation. The astrological “new year” always begins on the Spring Equinox which is also the first day of Aries; this is true in every year. I’ve always felt this is a very powerful new moon to make a wish on because Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and it’s always the first new moon of the new astrological year.

Wishing making is especially potent on this Aries new moon because it’s not only a solar eclipse but also a supermoon giving this lunation an extra boost of power. Aries is ruled by the planet Mars and the 1st House of the astrological wheel is ruled by Aries. Mars is the warrior planet of the cosmos and the 1st House in astrology is the “me House” and when we put those two things together (Mars + 1st House) we have a situation that could call for you to stand up for yourself or defend yourself. If you’ve been putting yourself and your needs last a new moon in Aries says it’s time to stand up for yourself by putting yourself first for a change.

Neptune in Aries

On the day after the new moon, dream-maker Neptune will make its move into Aries after a long thirteen year transit through Pisces. This is a monumental move for Neptune; this is beginning of a new era for humanity. Over the last 165 years Neptune has transited through all twelve zodiac signs and now it begins a brand new 165 year cycle. Neptune is linked to spirituality, mysticism, dreams and psychic power. This is a spiritual wake-up call for humanity. Aries is an action sign so this means we are no longer seeking a spiritual path, we are officially on the spiritual path. We’ve read the books, gone to the workshops, found our mentors and gurus now it’s time to put all of these spiritual principles into action. Aries has no time for “crybabies” so we must be strong, courageous and vigilant.

Have a great new moon solar eclipse in Aries and we hope to see you in the store soon.
