Astrology Reading FAQ
What is Astrology?
Astrology is the study of the movements and positions of celestial bodies (constellations, planets, sun, and moon) and the influence that they have on human affairs and the natural world.
During an astrology session, the reader will take a look at your astrological charts, particularly on your birth chart, which will show the zodiac position of the planets, sun, and moon on the day, location, and time that you were born. This information will be interpreted to give insight into your personality and challenges that you may have found yourself in thus far.
The reader will also take a look at other aspects such as the current location of the planets and what is coming up in the near future. These could be concerning particular energies that you might be feeling, challenges that may arise, ideas, relationships, and other aspects of your life. .
When should you get a Astrology reading?
In truth, you can get a reading at any time whether things are great or not so great. Here are some examples of when you might want to get a reading:
- Major Life Transitions (new job, moving, starting a family etc)
- Your Birthday
- The start of a New Year
- During Planetary transits (think Mercury Retrograde)
- When you feel stuck or in a rut
- When you feel you need relationship advice
- Starting a new relationship
- When you need inspiration
Like any human, Astrology readers do not have all the answers, but they can help interpret the celestial energies that you will be working with over a period of time and offer advice on how to proceed. The reader is a guide, in the end, you must make your own decisions on how to move through your life.
How to prepare for your Astrology session:
First, it is best if you know the date, time, and location of your birth. Be sure to provide those details to the reader before the appointment takes place. This will give you a more precise locality of your chart. The time of birth is important, especially when it comes to your moon and ascendant signs as these change with frequency. If you do not know your exact time of birth, it will be okay. You will simply have a more generalized reading when it comes to certain parts of your chart.
Be open to receive the messages and guidance you need. Sometimes the messages may not always be what we want to hear. Be open to listening anyway. You can ask your guardians, guides, ancestors, spirit animals, angels, or anyone in the spirit world who will have your highest and best interests at heart to be with you during the reading.
Prior to your reading, take some time to consider what you need guidance on. It may be a good idea to write it down and bring it to your session. You can be specific and precise in your wording or you write a general main idea.
Specific Example:
I want to know what steps I can take to heal the rift between my brother and I.
General Example:
Clarity, Healing, Brother
If you’re not entirely sure what it is you want to ask, you can simply write the following:
“What would you have me know?” Or “What do I need to know most right now?”
If you don’t have one already, you can download a recording app on your smart phone. (Make sure to test it out before your reading though). If your reading is over Zoom, you could ask the reader to record the session and send it to you via email. In any kind of reading a lot of information and emotions can come up. It can be difficult to remember what exactly was said (especially days or weeks after). Recording your session can give you a way to go back and listen again. It is appropriate to ask the reader first if it is okay to record. Keep in mind that the recording is for you and your growth purposes and is not something that should be shared on social media platforms or websites of any kind unless consent is given by the reader.
People sometimes come into a reading when they’re worried or stressed or overwhelmed, but this can hinder how you receive the message and can also draw focus away from the guidance that you need to hear. The day of the reading, try to take at least a few minutes to center yourself and open up some space in your mind. Whether you sit in stillness and take a few deep breaths, sing a song at the top of your lungs, say a quick prayer, write or draw, you can use any method that works for you.
