The moon is on her way to being full this Friday June 21 in the earthy sign of Capricorn at 6:08 pm CST. Full moons occur every month when the sun and moon are in opposite signs at the exact same degree; for this particular lunation the sun is at 1 degree of Cancer so the moon is in the opposite sign of Capricorn at 1 degree. This is the first of two rare Capricorn full moons this year; the second Capricorn full moon will occur next month on July 21. The energy of a full moon is one of tension; feeling like we’re being pulled in two different directions. In astrology, the moon is linked to our moods and emotions so during a full moon our feelings are amplified and can seem overwhelming at times. Our goal at this time is find a sense of balance. Full moons can be a time when situations in our lives are brought to completion.
Keywords and the Full Moon in Capricorn: status, command, authority, establishment, determination, pessimism, status, tradition, endurance, success, prudence, constancy, melancholy, mastery and aristocracy. With keywords like endurance, determination, command and success we can find ourselves pushing through obstacles to reach our goals. With the sun in the opposite sign of Cancer we are also dealing with home and family; with this in mind some of us may feel we’ve been putting too much emphasis on our work ambitions and not enough time with home and family.
Neptune, the planet of illusions and delusions will be making a square (a difficult aspect) to this full moon meaning we may be dreaming too much about our goals instead of taking realistic action. With a full moon in Capricorn we’re going to feel more secure and stable if our life is structured so if we’re feeling a bit out of balance we can create a routine to help ground our energy. Capricorn is an earth sign meaning this is a sign that places special emphasis on the practical, the useful and most importantly results.
The 10th House and the Full Moon in Capricorn: Each sign of the zodiac is linked to one of the twelve astrological houses. Capricorn is the natural ruler of the 10th House, the angle on the astrological wheel that deals with honor, status, position, reputation and career. Needless to say, our careers can be highlighted at this time; maybe a new job prospect or an interview for a new position. Some of us may receive a promotion or some type of recognition for a job well done. As mentioned above, the moon rules moods and feelings and the 10th House rules our career so we could be more sensitive and responsive to the mood in our work place.
Water and Fire Element and the Full Moon in Capricorn: During this full moon the water element is strong; Saturn, Neptune, Sun, Venus and Mercury are all in water signs. With so many placements in the water element we’re more likely to place a special emphasis on our feelings, emotions, moods, intuitions and relationships. We’re more apt to speak from the heart instead of our intellect. With the fire element being weak we may have a hard time getting ourselves motivated and out of our comfort zones; we’ll have to use Capricorn’s determination and endurance to reach our goals.
The Cardinal Modality and the Full Moon in Capricorn: Each astrological sign belongs to one of the three modalities; cardinal, fixed and mutable. Capricorn is a cardinal sign meaning this is a sign that likes to take action and initiate things. As mentioned above the sign of Cancer is also prominent during this full moon and like Capricorn, Cancer is a cardinal sign that likes initiating and taking action.
Have a great full moon in Capricorn and hope to see you in the store soon. Take care.
