The moon is on her way to being full this Tuesday November 8 in the earthy sign of Taurus. Full moons occur every month when the sun and moon are in opposite signs at the exact same degree. For this particular lunation the sun will be at 16 degrees Scorpio while the moon will be in the opposite sign of Taurus at 16 degrees. Full moons create a sense of tension and instability. Our goal during a full moon is to find a sense of balance. Full moons can bring situations to completion and they can cast light on what was previously hidden in our lives.
This full moon is also a lunar eclipse. Lunar eclipses only occur on a full moon when the sun, earth and moon are lined up and the earth is between the sun and moon. You can think of lunar eclipses as hyped up or dramatic full moons. If we’re in denial or avoiding a problem in our lives, a lunar eclipse can come along and force us to deal with this secret side of ourselves.
Eclipses occur four to six times a year and can bring great change and transformation to our lives.
As mentioned earlier a full moon involves two signs Scorpio (current sun sign) and Taurus (current moon sign). So, let’s look at some keywords for each sign.
Scorpio keywords: seduction, chemistry, manipulation, regeneration, obsession, desire, destruction, death, sex, intensity, money, isolation and self-sufficiency.
Taurus keywords: attraction, materialism, luxury, persistence, patience, stubbornness, tradition, craving, possession, allure, money and magnetism.
Look over the keywords during the full moon lunar eclipse and see which ones stand out to you. Which ones have significance for you and your life right now?
Money is a shared keyword between these two sign so, at it’s most basic level this full moon lunar eclipse can place our finances at center stage. This is amplified by the fact that Venus, the ruler of Taurus and money, will aspect this full moon as Venus in Scorpio will be opposite the moon in Taurus.
There are four tarot cards linked to this full moon and two of those are about faith and success, the Hierophant (Taurus) and the Six of Pentacles (Taurus). If you’ve fallen into a rut of scarcity thinking now is the time to remind yourself that anything is possible. Instead of digging in your heels and being stubborn (Taurus) be willing to try something new. In the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck the picture on the Six of Pentacles shows two people receiving money from a generous man. This card reminds us there are people around us who can offer assistance or maybe open a door of opportunity. The Hierophant teaches us that the challenges we face require us to trust our faith. The Hierophant tells us that our setbacks and challenges help us master our lives. Patience is another major keyword linked to Taurus; hang in there and take things one day at a time. Taurus tells us patience pays off.
The other two cards associated with this full moon are the Death card (Scorpio) and the Six of Cups (Scorpio). If we’ve fallen flat or become cynical about our situation the Six of Cups restores and renews our inspiration. The Death card symbolizes the principles of detachment and letting go. During this full moon we clear out and release what is no longer working for us. The Death card says after every ending there is a new beginning.
Similarly, both Scorpio and Taurus belong to the fixed modality. In astrology each sign belongs to one of three modalities; cardinal, fixed or mutable. The modality of a sign tells you about the attitude and nature of that sign and being fixed signs means both Scorpio and Taurus have staying power and don’t give up easily. So a major aspect of this lunation is about committing to your path and staying the course.
As mentioned above Venus is the planetary ruler of Taurus and will be making an opposition to this full moon. In Roman mythology Venus was the goddess of love, beauty and romance. Venus was also a seductress and Taurus follows her lead. Taurus energy has a way of attracting who and what they want without coming right out and asking for it. However, we can’t rely solely on this power because the body part associated with Taurus is the throat. Although we may prefer peaceful energy over chaotic or dramatic scenes we need to learn to exercise our voice at times and speak up for what we want and while we’re on the topic of using our voice; Mercury, the planet of communication, will be conjunct the sun during this full moon meaning both the sun and Mercury will be at the same degree in the sign of Scorpio. With this Sun/Mercury aspect we are more likely to initiate conversations to get our point across to others.
Have a great full moon lunar eclipse and we hope to see you in the store soon.
