The moon will be new this Friday in the fiery sign of Sagittarius at 7:43pm CST. New moons occur every month when the sun and moon are in the same sign at the exact same degree; this is known as a conjunction in astrology. For this new moon both the sun and moon will be conjunct at 28 degrees of Sagittarius. New moons are like a cosmic reset and are associated with new beginnings. This is the time each month to set new intentions and make new wishes.

The Elements and the New Moon in Sagittarius

Sagittarius is a fire sign meaning this is a sign linked to boldness, courage, enthusiasm and risk taking.

Fire Signs: Aries, Leo and Sagittarius, you’ll vibe quite well with this lunation. This new moon energy has you feeling inspired and motivated.

Earth Signs: Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn can feel a bit uncomfortable and overwhelmed at this time. Staying centered during a fiery new moon can be a challenge.

Air Signs: Aquarius, Gemini and Libra can cruise right along feeling energized and stimulated by the fire element.

Water Signs: Like the earth signs; Pisces, Cancer and Scorpio can feel a bit uncomfortable during a new moon in Sagittarius. The dramatic energy of the fire element stirs up your feelings and your insecurities. Trying not to take things so personally will be your challenge.

Regardless of your element, the new moon in Sagittarius is pushing all of us to be a bit bolder and courageous.

Ruling Planet: Each of the twelve signs has a ruling planet and for Sagittarius that planet is Jupiter. In Roman mythology Jupiter was the king of the gods, in Greek mythology he is known as Zeus. Astronomically Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system and in astrology Jupiter is linked to good luck, good fortune, blessings, miracles, expansion, faith and prosperity. Jupiter bestows his blessings on those who take risks and act with faith. This last new moon of 2025 is asking us to step out of our comfort zones with a little faith.

Venus, Saturn, Neptune and the New Moon in Sagittarius

Beautiful Venus will be close by this new moon adding some much needed gentleness, charm and beauty as we close out 2025. Neptune will be making a square aspect to the new moon in Sagittarius. In astrology an aspect occurs when two or more planets are in relationship with one another and the square aspect can be tense and difficult to deal with if we aren’t on our toes. Neptune floods this new moon with a serious dose of emotional sensitivity. This means we can be like little psychic sponges absorbing the anger and chaos around us. Before you go out into the world on Friday it might be good to carry a protective stone with you like black tourmaline, labradorite or tiger eye, all protective stones. When you get home you may want to sage yourself and your living environment to get any “icky” energy off of you. Try to communicate with others as clearly as possible to avoid any misunderstandings that can take root when Neptune is in the mix.

Saturn, the Cosmic Taskmaster, will also be making a square aspect to this new moon. The moon plays a big part in how we relate to others and when Saturn makes a difficult aspect to the moon any relationships that have a needy or smothering aspect to them will begin to feel overwhelming and frustrating. Saturn-Moon aspects can bring to light our dysfunctional emotional patterns that get us into these kinds of relationships in the first place. For some, this new moon energy could bring the realization that its time to sever the ties that bind you to an unhealthy relationship.

Take care everyone. Have a great Holiday Season and we hope to see you in the store soon.
