The moon will be new this Saturday in the earthy sign of Taurus at 3:01pm CST. New moons occur every month when the sun and moon are in the same sign at the exact same degree; in astrology this is known as a conjunction. For this particular new moon the sun and moon will be at 25 degrees of Taurus. New moons are symbolic of new beginnings so it’s the perfect time to make wishes and set new intentions. This new moon is also a supermoon. Supermoons occur when the moon is at it’s closest point to the Earth. Unlike a full supermoon, a new supermoon isn’t visible in the night sky. Friday, the day before the new moon, will be what is known as the dark moon. This is the time each month when our psychic vibe is on high. The dark moon is a great time to get your tarot or oracle decks out and give yourself a reading. Journaling would be another good idea during the dark moon along with clearing out anything we no longer use or wear.

New Moon in Taurus Zodiac Facts

Element: Taurus belongs to the earth element meaning this is a sign that places special emphasis on practicality, order, reality and the material. With the element in mind we could say that a new moon in Taurus is a time to take a real, physical action like making a to-do list, writing a business plan or making a budget.

Planet: Each sign is ruled by a planet and for Taurus that planetary ruler is Venus. In astrology Venus is linked to relationships. With Venus highlighted during this new moon, this may not be the best time to go it alone. Our new beginnings this month may require some team work and help from others.

Cosmic House: Each zodiac sign rules a particular house on the cosmic wheel and Taurus corresponds to the 2nd House. With the 2nd House activated, money, security, possessions and questions of self-worth take center stage. In numerology the number 2 is associated with partnerships, cooperation, harmony and support. Just like the ruling planet Venus, the number 2 stresses the importance of relationships.

Modality: Each sign belongs to one of three modalities; cardinal, fixed or mutable. Taurus belongs to the fixed modality meaning this is a sign that has staying power and sees projects through to the end. A new moon in Taurus says it’s time to stay the course when it comes to your goals. Resist the temptation to take shortcuts. The shadow side of the fixed modality is the resistance to change. If certain doors are closing at time be open to trying something different. You can keep your goal but you may have to accept another route to that goal.

Cosmic Coupling: The earth signs (Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo) along with the water signs (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces) will vibe better with this new moon while the fire signs (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius) and the air signs (Libra, Aquarius and Gemini) will have a more difficult time dealing with this energy.

Crystals and Stones: Emerald would be the first pick since it’s Taurus’ birthstone. Emerald is associated with prosperity, abundance, growth and love. Copper would be another great pick. Taurus’ ruling planet Venus is associated with copper. Copper is good for creativity, love and chakra alignment. If you’re having a difficult time choosing a path, jasper mookaite would be perfect to work with during this new moon.

Have a great new moon in Taurus and we hope to see you in the store soon. Take care.
